The total amount of aid provided by the European Union to Ukraine has reached 118 billion euros, equivalent to $131 billion, according to Valdis Dombrovsky, the Vice President of the European Commission. Dombrovsky made these remarks as discussions about EU support for Ukraine took place during the European Parliament's plenary session following the recent elections held from June 6 to 9.
In his address to the assembly, Dombrovsky highlighted the critical need for Ukraine to receive military assistance to effectively defend itself against ongoing threats. He underscored the EU's commitment to providing continued military and financial support, warning that the upcoming winter would pose significant challenges for Ukraine, particularly as Russia targets the country's energy resources and infrastructure.
Dombrovsky also noted that the military aid provided by the EU and its member states has now accumulated to around 118 billion euros. He detailed plans to train an additional 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of winter, bringing the total number of Ukrainian soldiers trained on European soil to 75,000, with 43.5 billion euros dedicated specifically to military support.
