After major gains on Tuesday following Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul, most European stock markets closed midweek with decreases.
The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, dropped 1.9 points, or 0.41%, to close at 460.19.
Germany’s DAX 30 was down 1.45%, or 214.28 points, to 14,606, while France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.74%, or by 50.57 points, to 6,741.
Italy’s FTSE MIB was down slightly by 7.73 points, or 0.03%, to end the day at 25,300, while Spain’s IBEX 35 lost 64 points, or 0.74%, to 8,550.
The UK’s FTSE 100 index ended at 7,578, up 41.5 points, or 0.55%.
Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended the day at 2,230.15 points, up 1.07% from the previous close.
Most major Asian stock markets also closed Wednesday with gains.
