Italy’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased 6.2% on an annual basis in the first quarter of 2022, according to official data released on Tuesday.
On a quarterly basis, Italy’s economy expanded by 0.1% from the fourth quarter of 2021, the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) reported.
The figures are up from previous ISTAT estimates announced on April 29, which forecast a 5.8% annual expansion and a contraction of 0.2% on a quarterly basis.
Annual consumer inflation in Italy climbed to 6.9% in May, while the monthly increase was 0.9%.
The highest annual price increase of 42.2% was in energy, according to ISTAT.
