Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman has broken his silence for the first time since the news of his separation from wife Deborra-lee Furness came to light. The couple, who had been together for an impressive 27 years, revealed their decision to part ways in a joint statement over the weekend, leaving fans and followers taken aback.
In a recent video captured by a paparazzo on the streets of New York City, Hugh Jackman responded to questions about the split, acknowledging that it's a trying time. TMZ reported the actor's interaction with the paparazzo, where he expressed gratitude for the concern, stating, "I don’t feel quite right talking about it on the street. But I appreciate your thoughts, man. It’s a difficult time."
During the encounter, Hugh Jackman was casually dressed in a dark T-shirt, black pants, sunglasses, and black shoes as he walked along the New York City streets.
As the conversation shifted, the cameraman inquired about the status of Hugh's upcoming film, Deadpool 3, which has faced delays due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. Hugh replied, "Well, I can’t really know … until I get back to work. As soon as possible, man."
Over the weekend, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness released a joint statement to People magazine, officially confirming their decision to part ways. The statement read, "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
Hugh and Deborra first crossed paths on the set of the Australian TV series Corelli in 1995 and began dating shortly afterward. They sealed their love in marriage on April 11, 1996, and subsequently adopted two children, Oscar and Ava.
