According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, 5,424 students have been killed and 9,193 injured since Israel launched its brutal assault on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, last year.
The Ministry explained in a statement on Tuesday that the number of students killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression has jumped to over 5,379, while the number of injured has climbed to 8,888. It also stated that the number of student killed in the West Bank has increased to 48, with 305 injured and 97 others arrested.
Among teachers and administrators, 255 were killed and 891 others were injured in the Gaza Strip, while in the West Bank 6 were injured, and more than 73 were arrested.
The Ministry’s statement indicated that 286 governmental schools and 65 others affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) were bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip. Some 111 schools were severely damaged, and 40 completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, 57 schools in the West Bank were stormed and vandalized, and 133 governmental schools in the Gaza Strip were used as shelter centers.
The statement confirmed that 620,000 students in the Gaza Strip have been deprived of enrolment in schools since the beginning of the Israeli aggression, while most of students are suffering from psychological trauma and difficult health conditions
