World no. 6 Rafael Nadal sealed his place in the third round of the 2022 Australian Open on Wednesday.
The Spanish player swept pass German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4 at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena, moving to the third round for the 16th time in his career.
He will face either Russia’s Karen Khachanov or Benjamin Bonzi from France in the next round.
The 35-year-old has won 20 Grand Slams throughout his glittering career, including 13 French Open titles, as well as a gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Barty ease past Bronzetti
World no.1 Ashleigh Barty reached the third round of the tournament with a comfortable win over Italian qualifier Lucia Bronzetti.
The Australian athlete recorded an impressive performance to ease past Bronzetti with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Barty will take on Camila Giorgi in the third round.
The 2022 Australian Open, one of the four Grand Slams in tennis, will continue until Jan. 30 in Melbourne.
