Argentine coach will take the helm of the Blues on July 1 and will be in charge until July 2025, Chelsea said in a statement.
"Mauricio's experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities, and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward," Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said.
"He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach, and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate," they added.
The 51-year-old bagged the 2020-21 French Cup and 2021-22 French Ligue 1 trophies with Paris Saint-Germain.
He also coached the English Premier League side Tottenham from 2014 to 2019.
