Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially confirmed the discharge of their goalkeeper Sergio Rico from the hospital on Friday. The 29-year-old athlete had been under medical care since May 28 due to sustaining a head injury from a fall off a horse during his participation in the El Rocio pilgrimage in Huelva city, located in southwestern Spain.
Rico expressed his condition, stating, "I'm feeling pretty good. I need to take it easy for a few more months and continue to recover at home. Everything is under control and we have to follow the doctors' instructions, which is the most important thing." His positive outlook reflects a determined approach to his recuperation.
Before his unfortunate accident, Sergio Rico played a pivotal role in Sevilla's success, contributing to their achievement of three UEFA Europa League titles consecutively between 2014 and 2016. Subsequently, he transitioned to PSG, where he contributed to the team's triumph in securing three French Ligue 1 titles in the years 2020, 2022, and 2023. Furthermore, he was part of PSG's victories in two French Cup tournaments, in 2020 and 2021.
Sergio Rico's journey to recovery following the horse riding accident showcases his resilience and determination to return to the field in due time.
