Australian Women Clinch Semifinal Berth with 85-67 Victory Over Serbia

The Australian women's basketball team secured their spot in the Olympic semifinals with an impressive 85-67 win over Serbia on Wednesday. Power forward Alanna Smith led the Opals to victory, putting in an efficient performance with 22 points and 13 rebounds at Paris' Bercy Arena.
Jade Melbourne and Cayla George also contributed to the win, each scoring 18 points. For Serbia, Jovana Nogic was the top scorer with 17 points, while Angela Dugalic added 14 points and Ivana Raca chipped in 10.
Australia's strong free throw shooting was a key factor in the victory, with the team going 22-25 from the line (88%).
The Australian women will now face either Nigeria or Team USA on Friday in the semifinal game. Nigeria will take on the US later on Wednesday. The gold medal game is set to be played on Sunday, the final day of competition at the Olympics.
