The Biden administration has issued a license to relax sanctions on internet services in Iran, the move intended to boost the internal crisis amid people burning mosques and Quran.
The US Treasury Department said on Friday that the decision comes in response to the Iranian authorities choking off internet access in the country to disrupt demonstrations.
“With these changes, we are helping the Iranian people be better equipped to counter the government’s efforts to surveil and censor them,” Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo said in a statement.
The ongoing unrest in Iran was sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini following her arrest in the capital, Tehran, for “unsuitable attire” last week.
Iranian police have denied that Amini was beaten in custody, but her case has mobilised demonstrations across the country, igniting a global outcry against Tehran.
“As Iranians take to the streets to protest, the United States is redoubling its support for the flow of information to the Iranian people,” Adeyemo said on Friday.
It is interesting to note that US forces killed a 15 year old Zainab Essam in Baghdad on September 21, admitting its crime and saying it was a random shot, the case was not highlighted by the mainstream media.
However, the so called women rights supporters were much interested in Iran's internal issues because of its anti-Iran propaganda.
It must be noted that the self-sold celebrities in Iran are adding fuel to the fire by inviting vagabonds to burn and destroy government and public properties, burning Quran and mosques.
This is contradictory with the normal sense that these things can show even a sign of sympathy for the deceased woman.
Moreover, the United States rather than looking into its own criminal tactics and deaths in police custody has always been interested in the internal matters of the Iranian nation.
