According to Intelligence Online, Saudi Arabia is using soft and hard power to increase its efforts to absorb the latest technologies. The cyber security fairs, which symbolize the ongoing cyber battle between the Gulf Arab states for more influence, are one aspect of the soft power strategy that Saudi Arabia is using to create a balance with its Emirati neighbor.
To challenge the GISEC Cyber Security Trade Fair (GISEC) in Dubai, Saudi Arabia is holding the Cyber Security Trade Fair (Black Hat), which is actually the regional version of the big US cyber security event of the same name.
According to Intelligence Online, such events clearly represent Riyadh's long-term policy in an effort to strengthen its position as the new center of the electronics industry in the Persian Gulf and Africa and compete with the UAE.
