Gaza Faces Communication Breakdown Amidst Severe Fuel Shortage
The Gaza Strip is on the brink of a communication crisis as fuel shortages threaten to halt all services. International efforts are underway to secure essential fuel supplies, but the situation remains dire.

Gaza faces a complete shutdown of communication services in the next few hours due to a severe fuel shortage, as warned by the Palestinian Telecommunication Regulatory Authority on Wednesday. Laith Daraghmeh, CEO of the Authority, stated, "The countdown has begun for the halt of all communications and internet services in the Gaza Strip." Efforts are underway to engage with international institutions to secure the necessary fuel quantities for sustaining communication services.
Earlier on Sunday, Palestinian Communications Minister Yitzhak Sidr had cautioned that all communication and internet services in Gaza would cease by Thursday due to dwindling fuel supplies. The fuel ban imposed by Israel in response to a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 exacerbates the critical situation.
As the Israeli assault on Gaza reaches its 40th day, the latest figures from Palestinian authorities indicate a devastating toll, with at least 11,320 Palestinians killed, including over 7,800 women and children. Additionally, more than 29,200 others have sustained injuries, and thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches, have been damaged or destroyed in Israel's relentless air and ground attacks on the besieged enclave.
In contrast, the Israeli death toll stands at around 1,200, according to official figures. The dire situation underscores the urgent need for resolution and humanitarian assistance in the region.
