Nearly one and a half years have passed since the British government promised to resettle around 20,000 vulnerable Afghan citizens, while the British government has confirmed that it has not accepted any Afghan citizens so far.
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on August 18, 2021 that the country plans to accept 20,000 vulnerable Afghan citizens, including judges, women's rights activists, academics, journalists, women and girls at risk, and ethnic and religious minorities.
The British government at that time claimed that the resettlement plan for Afghan citizens would provide legal and safe routes to England for those who need support, with the arrival of 5,000 people in the UK in the first year.
But according to BBC Radio 4, the British government has now confirmed that no Afghan nationals have been transferred to the UK under the resettlement scheme since then.
Meanwhile, "Caroline Lucas", a representative of the British Parliament, also condemned the government of this country for its failure and lack of commitment in implementing this plan.
On the other hand, according to some reports, only four Afghan citizens have been resettled in England by the end of September last year.
These people have been nominated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, but not a single person has been evacuated from Afghanistan who were working with or affiliated with the British government in Afghanistan.
This is despite the fact that with the re-establishment of the Taliban, England transferred nearly 14,000 people from Kabul airport to England through the emergency evacuation program until the end of August 2021, but then stopped the evacuation process.
