The Estonian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday the expulsion of a Russian diplomat.
In a statement on its website, the ministry cited "activities contradicting diplomatic duties" for the expulsion.
The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to retaliate for the move, saying "the response will follow."
In February, Russia downgraded its relations with Estonia to the level of charge d'affaires over Tallinn's decision to reduce the size of the Russian mission.
Currently, Russia has downgraded diplomatic ties with two Baltic states – Estonia and Latvia.
