Reports from undisclosed local sources in Mauritania reveal that certain security figures from the nation, including Mokhtar Voled, an advisor to the head of security, engaged in discussions with Israeli intelligence officers during the final week of Ramadan this year. Voled had been recently appointed as part of a reshuffling within the senior security ranks by Mauritania's Director General of Security, Lieutenant General Masqar Wold Sidi, in March of this year. Notably, among the Israeli intelligence officers present was David Maidan, recognized as "Netanyahu's principal foreign minister" and a key facilitator of normalization efforts.
The meeting took place at the residence of Mohammed Dahlan, a trusted advisor to Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of the UAE. Interestingly, the Mauritanian delegation declined to convene at the "Al Diar Mina" hotel in Abu Dhabi, potentially contributing to the likelihood of suppressing news within Mauritanian public opinion. During the meeting, the Israeli representatives sought to portray Iran, Russia, and China as principal disruptors of the envisioned order aligned with the interests of Tel Aviv and the White House in North Africa.
It's worth noting that diplomatic ties between Mauritania and Israel have been severed since 2009. Despite this, the Emiratis have been aggressively pursuing the normalization of relations between Mauritania and Israel, utilizing substantial financial aid and exploiting internal resources in the process.
