On Friday, the Lebanese Hezbollah group announced its responsibility for carrying out eight military operations against Israeli military sites near the southern border areas of Lebanon. The group issued separate statements, stating that the attacks were conducted "in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in solidarity with their courageous and honorable resistance."
One of the statements indicated that Hezbollah targeted the Israeli Masgav Am site "using appropriate weapons." In another, the group claimed to have struck the Al-Raheb site, achieving a direct hit. Additionally, Hezbollah reported attacking the Ruweisat Al-Alam site in the occupied Lebanese Shabaa Farms area with suitable weapons, resulting in direct hits.
Simultaneously, the Lebanese official news agency NNA reported an Israeli helicopter attack on a residence in Marwahin town. Israeli artillery shelling was said to have hit various areas in southern Lebanon, including the towns of Shihin, Zibqin, Khiam, and Odaisseh.
Tensions escalated along the Lebanon-Israel border with sporadic exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, marking the deadliest clashes since the full-scale war between the two sides in 2006. These border tensions unfolded against the backdrop of an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, initiated in response to a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7th.
