Russia's foreign minister affirmed on Monday that his nation has no plans to launch an attack on NATO countries, echoing statements made by President Vladimir Putin in response to recent comments from US President Joe Biden. Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with Channel One TV, reiterated Putin's dismissal of the notion, emphasizing that Russia has no territorial disputes with NATO nations or any other country, including Japan.
Lavrov placed blame on the West for severing ties with Russia, asserting that Moscow never actively sought to break off diplomatic relations. He argued that it was the Western nations that labeled Russia as an adversary or enemy, characterizing such statements as indicative of a "very desperate situation" on Washington's part.
In a separate interview with Rossiya-1 TV released on Sunday, Putin denounced Biden's remarks as "complete nonsense" and suggested that the US president made those comments to rationalize what he termed as "erroneous policies" against Russia. The Russian president portrayed the situation as an attempt by Biden to justify his stance.
