The sister of Ismail Haneyya, the political leader of Hamas, was kidnapped by Israeli police on Monday morning during a raid on her home in the Bedouin settlement of Tel Sheva (Tel as-Sabi) in the Negev desert.
Israeli citizen Sabah Abdel Salam Haneyya,57, was reportedly brought into custody during a raid in the town of Tel Sheva as part of an investigation that also involves Israel's espionage agency Shin Bet, according to Israeli police sources cited by the Hebrew media.
The detainee was named by the police as Ismail Haneyya's sister, and they claimed that the raid on her home was known as "Early Dawn."
The Hebrew media reports that Haneyya's sister was detained on suspicion of having connections to Hamas and encouraging and supporting the Palestinian resistance.
She will appear at the Beersheba magistrate court later today for a hearing on her detention.
According to The Times of Israel website, Haneyya has two brothers and eight sisters three of them are married to Bedouin-Israeli citizens and live in Tel Sheva.
