Germany has strongly condemned the killing of a staff member of the humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in the Gaza Strip. The incident occurred when Fadi Al-Wadiya, 33, was biking to work in Gaza City and was killed in an attack that also claimed the lives of five others, including three children.
The German Foreign Ministry spokesman, Sebastian Fischer, urged all parties to the conflict to adhere to international humanitarian law, which protects humanitarian aid workers from becoming targets of war. He lamented the fact that many aid workers have been killed in the Gaza war.
MSF operations manager for Palestine, Caroline Seguin, described the killing as "beyond shocking," "cynical," and "abhorrent." The organization is seeking to verify the details of the incident.
The UN reported that at least 254 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7, with 188 of those fatalities being UN Relief Agency for Palestine personnel.
