Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Russia on July 8-9, marking his first trip to the country since Moscow's "special military operation" in Ukraine in February 2022. The visit is at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and will be the 22nd India-Russia annual summit.
During his two-day trip, Modi will meet with Putin and other top Russian officials to discuss a range of issues, including regional and global concerns. The leaders will review the entire scope of bilateral relations between India and Russia, which have been strong for decades.
After the summit in Moscow, Modi will travel to Austria from July 9-10, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years. He will meet with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer, as well as interact with the Indian diaspora community in Moscow and Vienna.
Modi's trip comes after his recent reelection for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister. He last visited Russia in 2019 for an economic forum in Vladivostok, and his previous trip to Moscow took place in 2015.
