Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris and Deputy Prime Minister Micheal Martin have condemned the attacks on the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Deir al-Balah in Gaza, which resulted in the loss of numerous civilian lives.
In a joint statement, the Irish leaders described the attacks as "despicable" and "horrifying", respectively. Harris stated that Ireland condemns these rocket attacks and that those responsible must be held accountable. He also emphasized the need for all parties to de-escalate tensions and prevent further bloodshed.
Martin echoed Harris' sentiments, describing the loss of civilian lives as a "clear violation of international humanitarian law". He called on all sides to de-escalate the situation, which he warned could lead to a regional conflict.
The attacks occurred on Saturday, with a rocket attack on a football field in Majdal Shams resulting in 12 fatalities, including children. In Deir al-Balah, a school was targeted, killing 31 people, including 15 children and 8 women.
Israel blamed Hezbollah for the attacks, but the organization denied any involvement. The Irish leaders' condemnation of the attacks highlights Ireland's commitment to upholding international humanitarian law and promoting peace and stability in the region.
