Spanish authorities have confirmed that two American ships carrying arms intended for Israel have been denied entry to the port of Algeciras, Andalusia. The Spanish government took the decision to prevent the docking of the vessels, "Maersk Denver" and "Maersk Seltar," which had departed from New York on October 31 and November 4, respectively, and were scheduled to arrive in Spain on November 8 and 14.
A spokesperson for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated unequivocally that these ships "will not stop in Spain." The shipments on board are reported to include U.S. weapons intended for delivery to the Israeli government.
Following the escalation of violence in Gaza, the Spanish government has emphasized its commitment to not supplying weapons to Israel and has maintained that it will not permit ships carrying arms to dock in areas associated with the conflict. This action reflects Spain's stance on the ongoing situation in the region and aligns with its broader foreign policy objectives regarding arms sales and conflict resolution.
