As per the usual principles of political analysis, if we want to look at the reasons of the US insistence on Finland and Sweden to join NATO, the simple answer one finds is the same that the United States wants to weaken Russia, and that is why it is thinking of raising NATO members to weaken Russia, but in the hidden layers of this issue, there is another analysis that has not been paid attention to.
In this analysis, the United States and Britain have made a very detailed division of labor that may not be apparent at the very first glance, but the truth behind it is emerging.
As many of you know, the policy of looking to the East, which Barack Obama announced in 2012 as a new US strategy, has a very special focus on China. The truth is that the United States is more concerned with China than Russia, and the reason for this is not just China's military capability, but the terrible power that the China possesses.
It is a priority for the United States to limit this economic capability, which will eventually lead to control China's military power, but the problem is that the United States can not go to China and thus, needs to think of a precise strategy.
Given the economic difficulties of the United States and the reluctance of European countries to confront Russia, the only thing that came to the minds of politicians in London and Washington was to enter the stage of war accepting all its consequences and dangers. In fact, the United States and Britain were trying to create a united European front against Russia, and the victim of this was Ukraine with a clown president who sacrificed his country for the greed of the United States and Britain. The plan required the Europeans to form a united front against Russia, and for the United States to provide political, military, intelligence, and technical assistance.
In fact, in the larger plan to confront Russia and China, Russia became the share of European countries and the United States is supposed to control China with the help of Australia, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea (If possible, India and some other countries in South and Southeast Asia). The United States has neither the financial nor the military power to be on both fronts at the same time. Meanwhile, the increased presence of the United States in Eastern Europe provoked many protests among the masses who are very dissatisfied with the war in Ukraine these days due to economic problems. According to this analysis, with time, the role of European countries in the Ukraine war would be seen more and the US presence would gradually be reduced.
One of the main reasons for the US insistence on Finland and Sweden joining NATO was to connect all lines of contact with the Russians from the North Pole to the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles. The United States and Britain believed that the neutrality of the two countries could be a breathing space for the Russians, and that is why they included the Finnish leaders, who had lived in the Russian neighborhood with the least problems and the most relations for nearly eight decades. Under the plan, the Europeans now, with the exception of one or two countries, all stand up to Russia as members of NATO or the European Union, thus keeping the Russians busy on their borders.
The Americans now have the opportunity to deal with the China on a vast front in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The Americans have only one chance to control China, and that opportunity is likely to lead to a confrontation, as US policy toward China is very aggressive and could very dangerously plunge the region once again into a very bloody and exhausting war. China's insane military expansion poses invisible dangers with the development of strategic weapons in the naval, air and missile sectors which relies on the support of many populations.
After all, the United States did not succeed in pulling the Europeans (in the form of NATO) into East Asia, and so they engaged in their own political and historical geography with a rival who may not have had any greedy eyes for these countries in the medium term, to try, along with other Asian allies, for the last chance to rise against the China's power.
