The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said on Monday that a review found Red Bull Racing had a minor financial breach during the Formula One 2021 season.
"Oracle Red Bull Racing is considered to be in Procedural and Minor Overspend Breaches of the Financial Regulations," the FIA said in a statement, but did not specify how much Red Bull exceeded the spending limit.
Red Bull's Dutch driver Max Verstappen won his maiden F1 title last season, beating Mercedes' British racer Lewis Hamilton in a historic 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which was the final round.
Though the Red Bull team might be given a minor penalty, its driver Verstappen is expected to keep his 2021 title.
Meanwhile Formula One on Monday reported that Red Bull exceeded less than 5% of the Cost Cap.
Following his victory in the Japanese Grand Prix, Verstappen on Sunday was crowned the 2022 Formula One world champion, his second win in a row.
The next round, which is the 19th race, in the 2022 Formula One season will be held at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on Oct. 23.
This year's 22-round championship will end in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 20.
