Late on Tuesday, Russia announced that the UN Secretariat has a period of 90 days to restore normalcy in Russian agricultural exports.
This response came after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made statements regarding Moscow's decision to suspend its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative a day earlier.
Russia cited Paragraph 6 of the Memorandum, which states that the agreement will be in effect for three years, and if either party intends to terminate its implementation, a three-month notice must be given.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the UN Secretariat has a full 90 days to carry on with its efforts to normalize Russian agricultural exports.
The statement clarified that these 90 days mentioned by Secretary-General Guterres in his statement are the same period during which he intended to restore access to the SWIFT system for the subsidiary or affiliated structure of the Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank).
The statement further expressed that all the proposed palliative measures are not effectively put into practice and are merely designed to give the impression of progress.
It suggests that these measures are implemented in a situation where the influence of the UN on Washington and Brussels, who control payment systems, is no more significant than its influence on the Kyiv regime, which undermined the Togliatti-Odesa ammonia pipeline.
On Monday, the Kremlin made an announcement stating that Russia has suspended its involvement in the Black Sea grain deal. The reason cited for this suspension is the failure to implement the Russian part of the agreement.
The agreement, which was initially signed in July of the previous year in Istanbul, involved Türkiye, the UN, Russia, and Ukraine. Its primary objective was to resume grain exports from Ukrainian ports, which had been halted due to the Russia-Ukraine war that began in February 2022.
The statement further alleged that Secretary-General Guterres has been disregarding the terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage carried out by Kyiv. It claimed that the Zelenskyy regime, under the pretext of a humanitarian corridor and shipping within the framework of the Black Sea Initiative, consistently attempted to target Russian civilian and military sites.
This, according to the statement, violated the essence and specific provisions of the agreement, which was originally intended for the safe transportation of grain and food products from Ukrainian ports.
The statement also criticized the UN Secretariat for not expressing any words of condolence regarding the incident mentioned.
On Monday, there was a blast at the Kerch Bridge, which connects Russia to the Crimean Peninsula. This region was annexed by Moscow in 2014, a move considered illegal by many countries.
The explosion resulted in the death of at least two individuals, and a child was severely injured. Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of being responsible for the attack, while Ukrainian officials have neither confirmed nor denied their involvement.
