The Nasdaq extended its winning streak for the seventh consecutive trading day, marking its longest run of gains since January. The tech-heavy index saw a 0.3% uptick, adding 40 points to close at 13,518.
The Dow Jones also experienced a modest increase of 0.1%, rising by 34 points to reach 34,095 by the end of the trading session. Similarly, the S&P 500 climbed by 0.18%, gaining seven points to finish at 4,365. Notably, these indexes have now recorded gains for six straight days since July and June, respectively.
The VIX volatility index, often referred to as the fear index, dipped by 0.13% to 14.89. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield increased by 2.1%, reaching 4.654%.
In currency markets, the dollar index strengthened by 0.23%, closing at 105.27. Conversely, the euro weakened by 0.1% against the greenback, settling at $1.0717.
Precious metals experienced a decline, with gold losing 0.76% and dropping to $1,977 per ounce, while silver saw a decrease of 0.88%, falling to $23.01.
On the energy front, oil prices saw a 0.4% increase. The global benchmark, Brent crude, closed at $85.19 per barrel, while the US benchmark, West Texas Intermediate, ended the day at $80.86.
