Iranian women’s national ice hockey team gained an emphatic victory against Kuwait 20-0 in group B of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's Asia and increase the hopes of standing on the top platform of the old continent.
This match ended with a score of 5-0 in favor of Iran in the first round, a score of 6-0 in favor of Iran in the second round, and a score of 9-0 in favor of Iran in the third round. In the end, Iran's national team defeated Kuwait's national women's ice hockey team with a score of 20-0.
Kuwait is one of the countries of the old continent that has been active in this field for more than two decades.
Azam Sanai, Elham Modirdehghan, Negar Khorram, Fateme Esmaili, Zahra Rezaei, Hadith Khalaj, Yeganeh Bahrami, Azin Qaroni, Helia Sohani, Fatemeh Shahsund, Negar Arjamand, Haditha Porfashmi, Shabnam Arab, Asal Heydari, Diana Farzamnia, Diba Farzam Nia, Hediha Aghaei, Fatemeh Aghaei, Zahra Ghasemi, Arzoo Izadi have been the representatives of Iran in this competition.
Azam Sanai is the coach of this team and Farzad Hoshidri is the head coach of the national team.
The Iranian national team is scheduled to meet Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday (May 3, 2023) in Group B.
Earlier on Sunday, Iran defeated India 17-1 in the tournament.
Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and the UAE are in Group A.
After a single round-robin in each group, the first two teams from Group A will qualify for the semifinals and the remaining teams need to qualify for the semifinals against the best two teams coming from Group B.
