Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen secured his record-breaking 17th victory in the 2023 Formula One World Championship season at Sao Paulo on Sunday. The 2023 Formula One champion clinched a historic win at the Brazilian Grand Prix, completing the race in 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 7.136 seconds at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace.
McLaren's Lando Norris claimed the second spot, trailing Verstappen by 8.277 seconds, while Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin finished 34.155 seconds behind the Dutch driver, securing the third position.
Notable incidents during the race included Mercedes' George Russell's pit stop due to an oil temperature problem, as well as Alfa Romeo drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu retiring from the race due to technical issues. Haas F1's Kevin Magnussen, Alexander Albon of Williams Racing, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc also faced challenges, preventing them from completing the race.
With this victory, Verstappen now leads the Driver Standings with 524 points, followed by his Red Bull Racing teammate, Sergio Perez, at 258 points. Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes stands in third place with 226 points.
In the Constructors' Standings, Red Bull Racing has asserted its dominance with an impressive 782 points, leaving Mercedes in a distant second place with 382 points, while Ferrari secures the third position with 362 points.
Formula 1 enthusiasts can look forward to Round 22 of the 2023 season, which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on November 19.
