During the annual Bastille Day military parade, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, faced booing from the crowd.
The ceremony, held in Paris for the Republic Day, was attended by Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the guest of honor.
The parade featured joint marches by Indian and French military contingents, while military jets flew over the capital.
As Macron rode down Champs-Elysees Avenue in an open-top jeep, some spectators watching the parade expressed their disapproval by booing.
The Bastille Day celebrations are scheduled to carry on into the evening, with fireworks planned to be launched from the Eiffel Tower before midnight.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin noted that compared to the previous year, the night of July 13th saw relatively calm demonstrations.
According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, the Interior Ministry reported that 218 vehicles were set on fire and 97 individuals were arrested.
