Fayek al-Mabhouh, the head of police operations in Gaza assassinated by Israeli forces

The head of Palestinian police operations in the Gaza Strip, Brigadier General Fayeq Al-Mabhouh, was assassinated by Israeli forces on Monday during a military attack on Gaza City's Al-Shifa Medical Complex. 

The government media office (GMO) has confirmed that Al-Mabhouh was killed by Israeli forces today. He was working with UNRWA and the tribes to secure humanitarian aid into northern Gaza. The GMO has denounced this crime and emphasized that Al-Mabhouh was performing only humanitarian civilian work and that he should have been protected by international law. 

According to the GMO, this crime is a continuation of Israeli bombings and targeting of several centers that offer humanitarian relief to displaced people, as well as the assassination of those in charge of delivering that aid and killing of dozens of people over the past days in Rafah, Nuseirat refugee camp, Gaza and other governorates. 

The GMO held Israel, the US administration, and the international community fully responsible for these ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, calling on international organizations and all countries of the free world to intervene immediately and urgently to stop the genocidal and starvation war against civilians in the Gaza Strip. 

Meanwhile the killing of Major General Faiq Abdel Raouf Al-Mabhouh, the Palestinian Police's Director of Central Operations in Gaza, was denounced by Hamas. 

At Gaza City's Shifa Hospital, a new Israeli crime has been committed: the cowardly death of Major General Faiq Abdul Raouf Al-Mabhouh, the Director of Central Operations for the Palestinian Police. The crime came after the Al-Mabhouh and the security services were able to secure aid supplies’ access to the northern governorates, the Movement said in a statement issued Monday evening.  

According to the statement, this terrorist crime is fresh evidence of the Nazi enemy's intentions to destabilize the Gaza Strip, sabotage social harmony, and prolong the starvation catastrophe there. The civilian police are protected by international humanitarian law. 

Hamas further affirmed that the Palestinian people and their security services will foil the Israeli malicious plans to spread chaos.
