Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director of the World Health Organization (WHO), called the level of destruction surrounding the Israeli-attacked Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip "beyond words" on Saturday.
"WHO and partners were able to deliver 19,000 liters of fuel to Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza after more than a month," Ghebreyesus wrote on X.
According to Ghebreyesus, the consignment contained supplies for 150 patients' life-saving medical care as well as therapies for 50 children who were acutely malnourished.
"A big number of volunteer health personnel are providing care for over 240 patients. Due to a shortage of food, fuel, water, and medical supplies, services are severely restricted, he continued.
He said, “The level of destruction surrounding the Al-Shifa hospital is beyond words,” reiterating his call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure.
