Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov met with visiting German Finance Minister Christian Lindner in Kyiv on Tuesday to discuss increasing military assistance to Kyiv in its fight against Russia and strengthening bilateral ties.
Reznikov briefed Lindner on the current counteroffensive in the country’s east against Russian forces. He mentioned that despite initial doubts, Ukraine now has tanks, including Leopard-1s and Leopard-2s, and a tank coalition with support from Portugal, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
Reznikov stated that Ukraine’s priorities are still more air defense systems, ammunition, and various armored vehicles, such as medical vans. Lindner reiterated Germany’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and independence and expressed Berlin’s readiness to work with Kyiv on a variety of issues.
Lindner stated that they have already established an effective system of fruitful cooperation and that after the war, there will be a great opportunity to significantly broaden the scope of joint projects in a practical dimension.
