Turkish Airlines has made a triumphant return to Afghanistan, ending a three-year hiatus with the resumption of its flights.
A Turkish Airlines aircraft touched down at Kabul International Airport, marking the carrier's comeback to the Afghan skies. The arrival was celebrated with a special ceremony, attended by officials from the Turkish Embassy in Kabul, Turkish institutions, and representatives of the interim government.
The airline's Istanbul-Kabul route will now operate four times a week, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This move is seen as a significant development in Turkish Airlines' efforts to reconnect with Afghanistan.
The airline had suspended its flights to Afghanistan following a change in government in August 2021.
