Poland’s Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned French Ambassador to Warsaw Brederic Billet after French President Emmanuel Macron called Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki an “anti-Semite.”
In a Twitter post, Lukasz Jasina, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, said that the decision to summon Billet was taken by Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.
Earlier this week, the polish prime minister called for tougher sanctions on Russia and said: "Mr. Macron, how many times have you negotiated with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, have you achieved anything? ... One should not negotiate with criminals, one should fight them."
Hitting back on Wednesday, Macron said Morawiecki has contacted far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen several times and called the polish prime minister an “extreme right anti-Semite.
