Human rights documents show that about 70,000 men and women have been banned from traveling in Saudi Arabia as part of a policy of revenge against dissidents and human rights activists.
The human rights organization Sanad stated that Saudi Arabia is currently the country with the highest number of people banned from traveling.
The organization announced that Saudi Arabia had become the largest prison in the world during the reign of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to the Saudi Leaks.
Sources told the Sanad Human Rights Organization that there are more than 70,000 men and women banned from traveling in Saudi Arabia, including the entire families of detainees, activists and dissidents, as well as some Saudi princes.
Unprecedented in Saudi Arabia’s history, Mohammed bin Salman uses the no-travel approach to pressure his cousins, relatives and close associates of the government, which clearly shows his level of confusion.
The organization stressed that Saudi Arabia is violating international law by imposing a travel ban on thousands of people.
The Saudi authorities pursued a policy of repression to counter any demonstrations by the opposition, and this repression did not apply only to activists and critics; instead, they banned the families of these people from traveling, which also include children and the elderly in the list of travel bans of the families of detainees and dissidents abroad.
Activists say thousands of Saudis are banned from traveling. The government is doing this to put the opposition in a tight spot. Dozens of businessmen and princes in the ruling family, including the famous Saudi billionaire Walid bin Talal, who were detained for several months at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in 2017, are banned from traveling.
Mohammad bin Salman is using his authority and power to ban many families from traveling, and he is trying to inherit the throne from his ailing father by the end of this year.
