The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is gearing up to submit a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, as announced by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Quoting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, SPA reported on Wednesday that the bid aligns with the nation's overall progress across various sectors.
This ambitious move is in line with Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision, where sports is identified as a pivotal driver of economic growth. Notably, the Saudi Pro League has recently attracted global football icons, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Highlighting the kingdom's commitment to international sports, SPA revealed that since 2018, Saudi Arabia has successfully hosted over 50 international competitions across various sports, with football prominently featured.
The bid comes on the heels of Qatar's historic hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, marking the first instance of an Arab country hosting the prestigious tournament. The Saudi bid signals the nation's aspiration to further establish itself on the global sports stage.
