Abdallah Y. al-Mouallimi, the representative of Saudi Arabia in the Security Council demanded to include the name of Yemen's Houthis in the list of terrorist groups.
Mouallimi expressed this during his speech on Monday at the Security Council on the special session on the Yemeni crisis.
According to Khaleej Online, Al-Moalemi claimed in his speech at the Security Council: "The Houthi militia refused to extend the truce for political ambitions and reasons,, and the international community offers the Houthi leaders a new opportunity to respond to peace efforts."
He pointed out that "the Security Council failed to take a position on the atrocities committed by the militias against the Yemenis," stressing that "classifying the Houthi militias as terrorists has become an urgent and necessary matter."
Al-Mouallimi explained that "the port of Hodeidah under the control of the Houthis represents a threat to international peace and security," stressing that "we have not seen, recently, any real desire from the Houthis to end the conflict in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution."
The Saudi envoy called on the Security Council to take stricter measures against the Houthis, in case they continue to procrastinate in the peace process.
