An Israeli army battalion laid down weapons and refused to participate in training in protest of the removal of their commander, according to Israeli media.
Soldiers of the army’s elite Golani Brigades put their weapons inside a training building and left their base in protest of a decision to remove their commander, The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported.
The soldiers, protesting the transfer of their battalion commander, left the military exercises at the Taslim base in the Negev and protested by leaving the base en masse.
One of these soldiers announced in a tweet that they left the base to show the love and friendship they have with their commander, while the army announced in a statement that it is investigating the incident.
Defiance in the Israeli army has started since Benjamin Netanyahu took office as the prime minister of this regime and his judicial reforms.
Last month, following Netanyahu's speech on the reform laws of the judicial system, the Israeli media reported on a new round of disobedience and insubordination in various parts by the regime's army and the joining of new military forces in the ongoing protests in occupied Palestine.
In this regard, the Hebrew website "Wala" wrote that the officers and reserve forces of the Israeli army in the 8200 unit have signed a petition refusing to do military service.
Earlier, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the "Cyber Espionage" unit (Unit 8200) had announced that they were resigning in protest against the moves of Netanyahu's cabinet.
Israel's 8200 unit is the executive arm of this regime's electronic army, whose mission is eavesdropping, decoding computer codes, cyber warfare and defense, creating all kinds of malware and everything in the field of espionage and information gathering, or attacking other countries using technical equipment.
On the other hand, Israel Army Radio also reported that dozens of pilots from the reserve forces of the Zionist Air Force announced that they refused to report to their units. They informed their commanders that they had stopped all training and refused to return to military bases.
This action of the mentioned pilots took place after Netanyahu's words and his insistence on the continuation of the judicial law amendment process of this regime.
The process of protests against Benjamin Netanyahu's policies has been extended to the military and security institutions for some time and is becoming wider day by day, and more officers and soldiers are declaring that they are no longer willing to serve in the military.
The Times of Israel published the news and wrote that a number of reservists in the navy joined the protests against the change of judicial laws by Netanyahu's cabinet and closed the port of Haifa.
Previously, Israeli circles had announced that more army reserve forces, especially the air force, had joined the protests against Netanyahu. Ha'aretz newspaper had announced that more than 100 reserve officers at the Air Force Operations Headquarters had resigned from military service.
Netanyahu's cabinet presented a plan to reform the judicial system of this regime. Netanyahu, who has been on trial for years on charges of corruption, bribery and betrayal of trust, intends to escape from the trial by what he calls "judicial reform".
Not long ago, 100 officers of the "Special Operations" unit of the Military Intelligence Organization of the Israeli Army announced in a letter that if Netanyahu's plan is fully approved, they will withdraw from the army, the unit responsible for managing and implementing military operations outside occupied Palestine.
After that, 180 squadron officers of the Israeli Air Force announced in a letter to their commanders that they will withdraw from military service in protest of the so-called "Judicial Reforms" law.
Then the protests extended to the pilots of the 69th squadron of the Israeli Air Force - the F-15 fighter unit - and they informed the command of this squadron that they will not participate in the exercises. The pilots of this unit, both official and reserve forces, are used to attack targets in Syria and areas outside occupied Palestine.
The Israel Hayom newspaper also revealed that there are at least two other fighter squadrons where reservists are considering a move similar to the one made by the 69th squadron, one at Ramat David Air Base and the other at Tel Nof Air Base.
Not long ago, Herzi Halevi, the new chief of staff of the Israeli army, in a meeting with the commanders of the security and political apparatuses of this regime, addressing to the disobedience of the army soldiers and the expansion of the scope of protests against Netanyahu's cabinet, emphasized behind the doors that the situation is very dangerous and if they cannot find a solution to this crisis, the army and (Israel) will face a difficult dilemma.
He demanded to keep the army away from political games and social disputes and described the expansion of the scope of refusing to serve the Israeli military as the downfall and the beginning of the end of Israel.
According to Halevi, "the real test for the army as a whole and the reserve units is to strengthen social unity and cohesion, otherwise the army will disintegrate from within."
